Honoring Who You Truly Are

by Neseret on February 23, 2012

One of the first steps of healing is accepting, loving and honoring who you truly are.  At this point YOU may or may not know who you truly are. Who you truly are may be obscured by layers of faulty programing, lies, and trauma.

Understand none of this is your fault. However it often results with you experiencing pain and suffering. Addiction is part of that pain and suffering. Addiction is often a way you have attempted to cope with the pain, and suffering.

You felt alone, unsupported, and unloved.

Your drug of choice helped to meet some of those needs temporarily. It may have helped you numb the pain, blot out disturbing memories, helped you fit in, made you forget about your problems temporarily and the list goes on.

The key word is “temporarily”. Nothing outside of yourself is going to FILL you long term. Whatever your drug of choice, it will always act as a band aide. In the long run addiction will only bring you more pain and heartache.

Today you have a choice to STOP the pain.

You have a choice to find lasting solutions to your problems. This begins with your desire and willingness to change. Decide NOW to let go of the shame and pain and reclaim your FREEDOM.

Inside of you is a strong, resourceful, beautiful, wonderful, and magnificent being. Choose to honor that part of you – your higher/true self.

The first step in healing is choosing to have HOPE.

Believe you are STRONG, RESOURCEFUL, WONDERFUL, and MAGNIFICENT. Believe healing is POSSIBLE for you. Believe you are WORTH it! Take small steps each and everyday towards your recovery.

If you are here reading this I know you want to move forward in your life. I know you are ready to overcome your addiction and anything else that is holding you back.

It takes COURAGE to be willing to CHANGE.

It takes courage to step out of your comfort zone and embrace the UNKNOWN. It takes SELF RESPECT and truly valuing yourself to seek SAFETY and HEALING. You are not ALONE! You are never alone.

I am here to SUPPORT you! I know HEALING is possible for you. I know you CAN do it. I speak from experience. I have gone through the process of healing. I’m still on the PATH.
