A Measure of “Success”…

by Neseret on December 20, 2014

Flower Close Up In DarknessLife is a journey.

It is also an amazing adventure.

Everyday we are presented with opportunities to learn, grow, and evolve.

I hope this holiday season you take time to slow down and reflect on the events of past year.

Personally 2014 has been a year of incremental shifts, major changes, swift transitions, and altogether phenomenal inner transformation.

I’m happy I went through it or rather it went through me.

I’m grateful for who I am today as a result of the joys, sorrows, and the challenges.

How was your year? Can you relate?

When you come out of THE STORM,

you won’t be the same person who walked in.

That’s what this storm’s about. ~ Haruki Murakami ~

Change is inevitable.

Growth and transformation are optional.

We always have a choice in the matter, even though at time it doesn’t feel that way.

We can embrace change or resist it. When we resist, we suffer. And when we learn to go with the flow of life and we become flexible, then we are in a state of thriving.

We can choose to STOP struggling/suffering,

And Begin to surrender and THRIVE….

Success means different things to different people.

To me it means to stop struggling, suffering, resisting and instead learn to thrive.

The true measure of success is not money, stuff, or even fame. It is our ability to experience more peace, joy, love, acceptance, creativity, and compassion in every moment of our life.

It is also our willingness to embrace change.

The willingness to embrace the pain and sorrows. It’s our willingness to take risks, to love and to serve.

Ultimately the willingness to be human.

The true measure of success is about

who we are and who we’re becoming…

Do you like yourself?

Do you accept yourself?

Do you appreciate how powerful you are?

Do you recognize the beauty that’s you?

Can you sense the divine spark within you and everyone else?

Are you experiencing peace, joy, love, abundance, freedom…?

The answers to these questions is an indication of where you are. No one can judge the level of your success. You are the only person who can most accurately assess and decide.

You get to define what success and happiness mean to you.

As we approach the new year most of us tend to reflect on the past.

I encourage you to be gentle with yourself in looking back.

There are no mistakes, no coincidences, and no wrong turns. It’s all life and learning. It is all a part of your unique path.

You have the option of interpreting the events in your life in a way that’s empowering.

You can choose to focus on the lessons, the joys, the learning. You can choose to embrace all of it including the mistakes, sorrows, and pain.

You can also choose to be happy.

Life is truly beautiful.

I will leave you with the wise words of Agatha Christie…

“I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow; but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing.”

Great message, Neseret. Life gives us a lot of things we take for granted most of the time. Even at the end of that adventure, choices and changes made make it grand or not.
